What happened to the phrase "Honor thy Mother and they Father?" I was appalled when I heard that Comedian Mike Epps daughter sent an audio tape out of him cursing her out. My first thought was, "What would posses her to do something like that?" Over the years, my mama has beat my butt and cursed me out drastically, but I would never think to disrespect her in any kind of way. She's my mother. What is wrong with kids today?

It's obvious this little girl is trying to get attention. There evens seems some form of jealousy toward her sister. How do you talk back to your parents like this? What is the world coming to? While I'm not saying that Mike Epps is right for all of the things he called her, because he is clearly out of line as well. But there are some things you just don't do, especially to your parents.

Drake's "Club Paradise" Tour (My Experience)

So this past Saturday I decided to take my nieces to the Drake concert. It was last minute and spur of the moment, I made some calls to find tickets. Being who I am and having the favor that I have, I had no problem getting 6 tickets to the show. My nieces were stoked. My best friend was in town with her boo and her sister, so they joined us. I honestly thought it would be a kiddie show. To my surprise, Drake's "Club Paradise" had us rocking all night. The shows openers were Chase nCash, A$ap Rocky and Kendrick Lemar. Up until Kendrick Lemar came on, it was pretty lame. Kendrick brought excitement to the show. Then they began to prepare for Drake. Drake came out dressed in all black, slacks and a button up. A full band was behind him, bass, guitar, drums and 2 keyboard players. He opened the show with "Lord Knows." The crowd went bananas. He kept it rolling with "Underground Kings." I like this, because he went HARD from the beginning. He then went into "I'm On One" and expressed to the audience that this hip hop game is short lived and he may only have 2 more albums left before breaking into "Over."

The crowd was very mixed, mostly White. There weren't as many young kids as I thought there would be. But those White girls do have a tendency to look older and they all were dazzled up. Drake switched the tone with "Crew Love," "Shot for Me" and "She Will." We jammed to every joint. He went higher when he dropped Lil Wayne's "I'm Going In." After that He did "Up All Night," "Round of Applause," "We'll Be Fine" and "Forever." That set up "Club Paradise" for the ultimate party. The U.N.O. Lake Front Arena was definitely on full tilt after he did those joints. Loud screams exuded from all around the arena.

With the crowd on a total HIGH, Drake stopped and did something that Jay-Z does at all of his shows. He went to the right side and started acknowledging his fans. He pointed them out and let the cameras catch them on the big screen. He said to one guy, "I see you with the orange shoes. I don't know where you're going with those, but I appreciate you coming to see me." He shouted out people on the left side, and the ones in the middle. Surprisingly, Drake had alot of support in there with him. People who'd worked on his first mixtape were there, some of his employees parents and his YMCMB comrades. He shouted them all out as well.

Drake showed plenty emotion as he does in his music. During "Marvin's Room," "Take Care" and "Miss Me," he went ham. He fell all on the floor after "Shot for Me." He danced at the end of Take Care. He took his shirt off around the time he performed "Cameras." The crowd sang along, "We look like we're in love, but only on camera, only on camera, only on camera." The HIGHLIGHT of the night was when he performed "Stay Schemin" off of Rick Ross' "Rich Forever" mixtape. The entire crowd screamed as the music cut, "B**** you wasn't with me shooting in the gym," a line Drake wrote after Vanessa and Kobe settled on what Vanessa would get after the divorce. I was laughing historically at the men and WOMEN and the seriousness on their faces as they all shouted the line. It was also bananas when he performed "Practice" and shout out all the girls from the 504. It's funny to see White girls trying to back that ass up though.

Drake closed out the show with "Look What You've Done," "Make Me Proud," "Practice" and "Hyfer." The crowd gave him a standing ovation. All in all it was a LIVE show. Drake later partied in Harrah's Casino's Masquerade Room with DJ Hektik.

Rapper DMX who's been off the scene for a while, because of jail time and a stint with drugs is back. DMX has been doing shows around the country. He's completed his album and is shopping for labels. Apparently Rick Ross's MMG label reached out to him while he was in prison. He declined to sign with them. He says he is NOT impressed by Rick Ross at all. He speaks on his relationship with Def Jam. He says when Jay-Z became President of Def Jam, he wanted to "eliminate the competition," because Jay-Z had come out of retirement. He says, Lil Wayne is cool. (a slightly political answer) He expresses how deeply he doesn't like Rapper Drake. DMX is hilarious in this interview. Alot of what he is speaking, real hip hop heads feel the same way. The game has changed though. It has evolved, believe it or not. Rappers went from being broke to being rich. That's what they got in it for. Check out the interview.

Basketball Wives Season 4 (My Thoughts)

So I missed the premier for obvious reasons, but I finally got a chance to view the show online. First let me say this, after watching what happened in the end of "Love and Hip Hop" anybody with sense should know that VH-1 is rigging up most of the drama. This is what I got from this season. There are two new girls added, for extra drama. Forgive me, I don't remember what their names were. Tami is the catalyst in all of the drama in this episode as Yancy was in most of the drama on "Love and Hip Hop." Shaunie also instigates as she's been doing. VH-1 puts these women in rooms together, that they know don't like each other for a better show with more ratings. From the looks of it, this season is full of drama. All of them turn on each other in some way. While Shaunie, the Boss just sits back, watches and collects checks. Evelyn is acting out majorly in this season, defending her fiance, Chad Ochocino Johnson. Of course she has a new show coming out with him soon, so that's understandable. Jennifer is on her high horse. She's always been, but she is giving it EXTRA this season. Susie is still a clown and Royce still holds her own and has her own mind.

Yesterday, late last night as I was working on my Mardi Gras piece. I kept seeing Diddy saying he is making a BIG announcement at 10am. Of course I was at Mardi Gras when he actually tweeted the announcement, but now that it's over, I'm able to see what Diddy had to say. He is launching his own cable network called REVOLT with the help of Comcast. Diddy says his network will be the number one music network, knocking out B.E.T., M.T.V. and VH-1. I am certain that this scares all of those stations. Diddy has been a major player in music and television since the early 90's when he was called Puff Daddy. I absolutely LOVE his hustle though. This is Bigger than anything he's ever done, and he's done some big stuff. I also love how he used that Steve Job's Commercial line when he made the announcement via Twitter.com. "Here's to the crazy one's," he tweeted before posting this video announcement.

The History

Mardi Gras is by far New Orleans' oldest celebrated holiday. Brother's Iberville and Bienville set up their first encampment on the Louisiana Gulf Coast on Mardi Gras day 1699. They named the spot Point du Mardi Gras. It was initially believed to be a pagan holiday until Christians incorporated it into their Easter holiday by doing a fast for 40 days up until Easter. The days leading up to Easter were known as the Carnival, meaning, (Farewell to Flesh). This is why Mardi Gras is also called Carnival. The day prior to Ash Wednesday, which starts the 40 day fast is the day to have fun and to be a glutton. Hence, giving the day the nick name Fat Tuesday. The season traditionally begins on the Catholic King’s Day, January 6th, or the Feast of the Epiphany. This was the day, twelve days after Christmas, when the kings visited the manger of Jesus. On this day, bakeries across the city begin selling King Cakes, brightly colored sugary cakes that have a small plastic baby baked inside to represent the baby Jesus. Cakes are eaten at work, school, or at King Cake parties. Tradition has it that whoever gets the baby in their piece of cake has to buy the next cake, typically for next week’s party.

On Mardi Gras day, the day after Lundi Gras in which the two Kings Rex and Zulu have made their toast, the Krewes of Zulu and Rex roll out. They roll out on beautifully ornate decorated floats. The floats carry a group of people who distribute out the groups throws.

Zulu rolls out a 8 am and Rex follows behind them. Families gather together in the streets of New Orleans. Everything in the city is shut down. Alot of streets are closed and blocked off and businesses are shut down. Everyone is out celebrating Mardi Gras. There's food, fun, drinks and good MUSIC. It's one BIG party.

A Mardi Gras Float

The party doesn't end until Bourbon Street is cleared out at 12 midnight to start Ash Wednesday. Bourbon St. is a famous street in the New Orleans, French Quarters. It holds many resturants, bars, strip clubs and clubs. Live music, karaoke, and dancing can be found down there. All kind of exotic drinks can be found also. One of the most famous is the "Hand Grenade." Another is the "Hurricane." Patrons party on Bourbon all day until it's time to shut down. Mardi Gras throws are often thrown from the balcony's of the balcony's of condo's and hotels. Often time, women "show their Tits" to get bigger throws.

Bourbon St. has nothing on Orleans and Claiborne Streets though. (Under the Bridge) Which was once only the African American spot to hang out for Mardi Gras has quickly grown to be a big mixed environment (Post Hurricane Katrina). The masked Mardi Gras Indians come out under the bridge. The story behind the Indians come from the History Books. Native Americans taught the African American slaves who had escaped from slavery and hidden out in the marshes how to survive out in the marshes. To pay homage to them, African Americans mask out as Indians in colored, highly beaded or sequined feathered outfits. They dance and chant along the streets.

At first I was not too fond of Nicki Minaj. That was until this producer went ham for her on Twitter and told me to go check out her Youtube videos. Being that I had only heard the mainstream stuff from her, I took his advice. Immediately, after watching her redo of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Warning" video, I fell in love with her. I then peeped out a ton of her "OLD" stuff and realized, she could really flow. Of course she took alot from Foxy Brown and Lil Kim, but she was good at it. Granville T. Woods invented contributions to the telephone, the street car and more

African Americans are so talented. I think about some of the things that were invented by Black people and I think to of the old saying, "When you have little or no resources, you must make due with what you have." Most of the old African American Inventors didn't have much and they made something out of what they had. That just shows you how brilliant the mind of a Black person is. Oh the possibilities of what we can do if we just used what we had and put our minds to work. A serious spirit of laziness has come upon us as a people though. Much of it has to do with the fact that we don't know who we are and we are not often reminded where we come from. We come from great thinkers, inventors.

Lewis Latimer - Inventor

This leads me into a story.When I was a teenager, hanging in the Lafitte Housing Project, clearly up to no good, I witnessed some young Black inventors. I was a look out girl for this older girl named Donetta. Donetta was a drug dealer. She was selling drugs in the Lafitte Housing Projects for years. I took a liking to her, because she was making plenty money. She took a liking to me, because I reminded her of a younger her. She would give me money at the end of the day for looking out for her stash that she would hide under a pile of leaves in the middle of the court yard, stuffed inside a Lay's potato chip bag. She would hide the dope under the leaves so that dope fiends wouldn't get to it and so that she wouldn't have it on her if the cops rolled up. As I sat there on watch one day, there were kids playing near the leave pile. I kept my eyes on those kids, because they were playing in the dirt, fooling with the rocks and debris that lay on the ground. One of the boys began to fill up an aluminum soft drink can with dirt and rocks. He then took a plastic grocery bag and tied it to the cap's opener. His friends began to do the same thing. When they were done, they began to throw the inventions up in the air. They had created parachutes out of cans, rocks and grocery bags. As they threw the cans up, the bag opened up and allowed the cans to float in the air. I would have never thought to do something like that. But these kids with limited toys to play with, only rocks and debris had created their very own toys. I was so amazed by that, that it stuck with me until this day. Look how great their minds were.

I was VERY moved by "Pastor" Tyler Perry's speech at Whitney Houston's funeral. Halleluerrrr *Madea voice* Tyler's presence alone had me excited, because he holds it down for New Orleans so well. But this message about Whitney was the TRUTH. Tyler expressed how Whitney would be so honest and open about her failures and mishaps, yet she'd still say, "But my Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ and his amazing GRACE." Whitney KNEW the Lord. There were so many highlighted moments at Pop Legend Whitney Houston's funeral. Whitney lived on PURPOSE. Her life was meant to had been lived the way it was and it was meant for her to be sent home the way she was sent, from the church. Whitney brought the CHURCH to the WORLD. I just caught chills typing that. That is the same way I felt, throughout the entire service. It was chilling, exciting, encouraging and uplifting. It was emotional, entertaining and empowering. One of the moments that stood out the most to me was Bishop T.D. Jakes address to Whitney's mother, Cissy.

Bishop Jakes who was accompanied by his wife, the Honorable Serita Jakes and daughter Sarah D. Henson, took to the pulpit with such an extraordinary anointing. Bishop Jakes delivered a profound, prolific message that led us right into the love of our GOD, Jesus Christ.

Today as one of God's Angels, Whitney Houston was sent home, I couldn't help but to take heed to the message her friend Kevin Costner delivered. The first message Kevin brought across was never judge a book by it's cover. While no one would have known upon first look, Kevin assured the WORLD that he, like Whitney Houston had come up in the Baptist Church. His wittiness brought forth a good humor in the midst of the funeral as he told stories about his time in church, stealing the communion juices and knocking them back.

But the message that stuck with me was when Kevin Costner spoke about Whitney's insecurities. Whitney Houston, "The Voice," that nobody until this day can mess with still had insecurities. She was doing what God called her to do, yet she was still doubtful and full of fear when going up for that role in "The Body Guard." Costner insured though, that even though she was experiencing all of that, "The Game Was Rigged." No matter what would happen, he would make sure she STILL got the role. No matter what, the role was set aside for her. His message made me tear.

Often times when we are called, even with the looks and the talents, we sometimes face some of the same insecurities as Whitney did. You know how you want to do something, but fear takes over. You have your mind set on something, then doubt over takes you. You know you're the best at what you do, but still you have to wonder are you good enough. Well Kevin let us know, that when God has called you to do something, it is for YOU to do. God will "rig the game" for you. You don't have to have a doubt, or fear in the world. What God has for you, it is for YOU.

Jeremiah 29:11 states For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Whitney Houston's Funeral Arrangements

Today Legendary R&B Singer Whitney Houston will be sent off in a major way. While her family wanted the funeral to be private, they are now allowing it to be broadcast via television and web. The funeral will be held at Houston's home church New Hope Baptist in Newark, NJ. The funeral is said to be a star studded home going. B.E.T. will began covering it at 11:30 am. "The Homegoing of Whitney Houston." E! gets started early. They will began airing at 8:30 am. with a special called, "Whitney Houston: The Funeral." Fuse, CNN and FOX are also scheduled to cover the funeral.

Pastor Marvin L. Winans, who was a good friend of Houston is doing the eulogy. Winans also married Whitney and her ex-husband Bobby Brown in 1992. Aretha Franklin, Whitney's Godmother has been asked to sing at the funeral. The funeral begins at 12 noon. A host of other celebrities are in line up to appear in the 1500 seat New Hope Baptist on today.

Her close friend Ray J, Bishop T.D. Jakes who worked on her last film, "Sparkle," Chaka Khan, Bebe and CeCe Winans, Dione Warwick, L.A. Reid, Rev. Jessie Jackson and a host of others are slated to attend. Her ex husband Bobby Brown is said to be in attendance accompanying the couple's daughter Bobbi Kristina's side.

A hearse arrived at the funeral home where her body is being taken care of, surrounded by tons of police escort. Fans gathered outside of the funeral home, playing and singing her songs.

Nicki Minaj who was introduced by a handsome, suited Drake displayed her acting skills last night on the Grammy's. "Roman Holiday" displayed Nicki as the crazed Roman Zolanski (Her Alter Ego), who's mother called a Priest to perform an exorcism on her to get the demons OUT. It was no coincidence to me that she used a Roman Catholic Priest to do the exorcism, because that's where the whole process originated from. Although her acting skills were superb and she acknowledge the CHURCH in a major way on the biggest secular music award show out, alot of the Christians had a problem with her performance. This report really saddens me. As a little girl Whitney was someone who I grew up listening to. I remember I would walk back and forth through our shot gun house in New Orleans singing her "I Will Always Love You" hit all day. While my singing career was short lived, Whitney's wasn't. She has won 415 Awards, 2 Emmys, 6 Grammys, 22 American Music Awards, 30 Billboard Awards & sold 300,000,000 Albums - R.I.P Whitney Houston. SHE IS TRULY A LEGEND. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYONE OUT SING HER YET!

Recap: Love and Hip Hop "Reality Check"

I finally got around to watching the season finale of "Love and Hip Hop." Of course what alot of people don't know is all reality tv is scripted in some way, shape or form. For "Love and Hip Hop," the producers thought it was cool to bring drama into people's lives and place people they know darn well won't like each other get along in settings together for more ratings. Chrissy (my Fav) is REALLY from the streets. You can't USE her and her not know it. When she realized the producers were using her for ratings and adding drama to her life, she wanted it to come to a halt. Her man, Jim Jones kept it all the way REAL and expressed his love for his woman and let all the other girls know (Yandy especially) that Chirssy comes FIRST. Somaya Reece, who once tweeted how fake the show was, actually in her interview let us know that it really is fake. If you don't have drama or a struggling story, the cameras aren't not trying to follow you.Yandy sat in the interview and LIED if you ask me. I have always thought that something happened between her and Jim and I still believe it, although she lied horribly in her interview. Yes, she did have a man the whole time, so that's explainable. I would not expose myself either. Her man and his boys jumped Jimmy prior to the show's finishing. Olivia seems to have gotten what she wanted and finally spoke up. Erica is scared that she messed up her shot at fame, by acting horribly on camera. Kimbella is CLUELESS still...smh. Emily is still with Fabolous and never left him for the record. She did finally get him to acknowledge to the world that she is his girl. That doesn't mean he still ain't cheating though.

It is National Black History Month and I am excited to celebrate Black History. When you know you come from greatness, there is no reason for you not to WANT to be GREAT. Alot of people in Black History were History Makers and Earth Shakers. Black Inventors, Writers, Musicians, Lawyers, Pastors, and Doctors all played a huge part in our history and each Monday I'm going to spotlight someone in Black History.

Today's Spotlight Monday goes to Justice Thurgood Marshall. A Howard University graduate by way of being denied to attend University of Maryland, (because he was Black), Marshall became Chief Counsel for the N.A.A.C. P. He won 14 of the 19 cases he argued before the Supreme Court and is most known for his success in the Brown vs. Board of Education case. That case helped to end racial segregation of schools all across the United States. He also won cases to help end Transportation segregation in the U.S. He was the 1st African American to be a Supreme Court Justice.
